3 Ways the new Man City kit is similar to the 1967/68 kit
The new season marks the 50th anniversary of the title winning season of the great Lee, Bell and Summerbee side of the 60’s. To commemorate the anniversary Nike have incorporated elements of the 1967/68 kit into the new 2017/18 Man City kit.
Mancitygifts’ @thegingerwig talks us through the new kit
The 3 ways the new Man City kit is similar to the 1967/68 kit
Here are the three ways (can you see them from the image above?)
1) White shorts
The new Man City kit has gone back to the much loved combination of blue shirt, white shorts and blue socks. Just like the 1967/68 season.
Whilst a lot of City fans love this combination, the club have mixed and matched between blue and white from the mid 70’s. Indeed the famous Aguerooooooooooo moment occurred in an all blue kit.
2) White Round neck
Ok the Nike guys haven’t been that generous when it comes to the white part of the collar, but it is there!
Take a look at the video and you’ll see it in more detail.

3) Maroon on blue socks
Again it’s a subtle hint from Nike rather than a heavy band as was worn in the 1967/68 team (below is an image from the famous ballet on ice match)
The new socks have a very thin maroon line incorporated into the design (see below). Personally I’d have liked them to go the whole hog and have a thick maroon line but I suppose it doesn’t go with the subtle hints of the overall design.
