Does this video reveal the Man City 3rd kit 2015/16?
New Nike video shows the 3rd Kit of Brazilian club Corinthias. With reports that Nike are doing a job lot 3rd kit for their clubs is this the design of the Man City 3rd kit 2015/16?
Nike are yet to release official images of Manchester City’s 3rd kit for the 2015/16 season but, the usually reliable Footyheadlines.com, did release this image of the shirt.
As you can see the image is very similar to the new Corinthias kit in the video, giving an idea of what the shorts and socks will be. The neon green shirt is based on the same template as other Nike kits including Barcelona and Inter.
Whilst there have been reports that this may be a training top, the release of a similar top as Corinthias 3rd kit does imply that this will be the 3rd kit. The shirt and shorts both have the black gradient design, with a black line down the side similar to the home and away kits.
The Manchester City badge on the shirt is black with green infill set on a green shield (the material of the shirts prevent the badge from being embroidered directly onto the shirt).
Where have I seen the colours before?
At the Manchester City home shirt launch, Nike revealed 4 themes they base their designs on. One of the key aspects was retaining the history of the club whilst trying to appeal to new fans. As an older Manchester City fan I feel that I’ve seen the Neon Green and dark colours before!
Whilst I have no proof of this, I suspect Nike will reference the Wembley 99 final when promoting the new Manchester City 3rd kit.
The new Manchester City 3rd kit (or Champions League/Cup away shirt as Nike like to call it) has not yet been released but is due anytime soon. I expect that the release will be either before the Sunderland League Cup game or before the Monchengladbach Champions League away game.
